The following guide is by Wraith and NightBlade....and maybe an army of Ninjas. And Wizards. Ninja Wizards! Oh man, that's totally awesome!
Please note: If you had a registered name, you will have to re-register it on the new server.
Guide for mIRC
1). Go to the 'Tools' menu and select 'Options...'.
2). On the left there will be a list. Expand the 'Connection' tab.
3). Click 'Servers'. On the right, there will be a heading, 'IRC Network'. Underneath this heading is a drop-down box. Using this box, select the server you currently use to connect to the chat.
4). Click 'Edit'. A box for editing should come up. One of the fields is labelled 'IRC Server'. Change the text in this field to the following: irc.dm7.net
5). Click 'OK', then click 'OK' again to close the options. You should now be able to connect to the chat as you would normally.
Guide for ChatZilla
1). Go to the 'Tools' menu and select 'Options...'.
2). Click 'Global Settings' in the left pane of the preferences window.
3). Click on the 'Startup' tab in the right pane.
4). Scroll down until you reach the 'Auto-connect URLs' section.
5a). If you have already added an auto-connect URL to connect to the Unreal IRC server (irc.unreal-irc.net), select it and edit it so that it connects to the new server (irc.dm7.net).
5b). If there are no URLs in the auto-connect box, click the "Add..." button and copy and paste the following URL: irc://irc.dm7.net/mfn
6). Now whenever you start up ChatZilla, it will automatically connect to the new server and join the MFN channel.
Guide for Xchat
1). Go to the 'X-Chat' menu and select 'Server List'.
2b). In the list, find the server you currently use to connect to the chat. This is probably 'MFN' or 'Unreal-IRC'. The list may be unsorted, so it may be down at the bottom.
2b). If the current network cannot be found, a new one can be created. Next to the word 'Networks' is the button 'Add'. Scroll to the bottom of the list and find the newly created server. It will be called 'New Server'.
3). Once found, check the 'Edit Mode' box if it is not already checked.
4a). If you found the existing server in the list, on the right there will be a gray list with the word 'Servers' above it. This list is likely to contain only one item. Double-click this item and it will allow you to change the text. Change it to the following: irc.dm7.net/6667
4b). If you created a new server, double-click the server in the 'Networks' list. You will then be able to rename it, 'MFN' or 'Recoiled' would be best. The 'Edit Mode' box should be checked. On the right, check the 'Auto connect at startup' box. In the 'Join Channels' box, enter '#mfn'. On the right is the server list. 'newserver/6667' should be there. Double-click this, and it will allow you to change it. Change it to the following: irc.dm7.net/6667
5). Once this is entered, click a blank space somewhere to exit out of text editing.
6). Click 'Close', and then you should be able to connect as you would normally.
