This update should appease anyone that is against a reboot of The Matrix. Zak Penn, the writer who Warner Brothers brought on to write a treatment for the next Matrix film, has commented via twitter about the entire situation, casting new light on what is actually happening. His tweets pretty much speak for themselves:
All I can say at this point is no one could or should REBOOT the Matrix. People who know Animatrix and the comics understand.

Can't comment yet except to say that the words "reboot" and "remake" were from an article. Let's stop responding to inaccurate news.

If I were going to recast Keanu Reeves, I would cast Keanu Reeves.

I'm working on the reboot of Ready Player One. Same creative team and cast. To be released concurrently with the original.

How about just re-release the matrix? Don't reboot it, you can't do better.

Do I want to see more stories set in the universe of the matrix? Yes. Because it's a brilliant idea that generates great stories.

Look at what people are doing with Xmen universe. Between Logan and Legion and Deadpool, does anyone want them to stop? Not me.

So… now that that’s cleared up… what are your thoughts?
Ace. Looking forward to it now 🙂
I dig it. It sounds like he’s going the exact route I would want them to take–I think the X-Men universe is a great template to want to emulate.
