DIRECTORS

Yoshiaki Kawajiri (Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D, Animatrix: “Program”) has an original story that he’s come up with. “The Matrix is a flat-out incredible experience both visually and on a narrative level.  It really manages to fuse a lot of disparate elements of cinema: you see why people love it so fanatically.  If really convinced me that a new breed of filmmaking had arrived.”

It takes place in a training program in a simulation, a Kurosawa-style ninja epic, that works its way back into the world that we know from the Matrix.

Takeshi Koike (Party 7, Trava, Animatrix: “A World Record”) written by Kawajiri, about a guy who by sheer physical power, breaks into the real world.

Mahiro Maeda (Blue Submarine No. 6, Animatrix: “The Second Renaissance” Parts 1 and 2) working on a prequel detailing the war between man and machines

Andy Jones (Square – Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Animatrix: “Final Flight of the Osiris”) working on a story by Larry and Andy Wachowski.  Square’s animatrix contribution was directed by Andy Jones, the animation supervisor for Final Fantasy
