Carrie-Anne Moss figured she had learned all the karate she needed after the first Matrix. Now she’s a novice once again.
“They want more intense fighting, more complicated moves,” Moss says while shooting the upcoming sequels in Australia. “I’m exhausted.”
Moss and co-stars Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne will spend nearly two months in martial-arts training to intensify the fights from the original. “I get up, train, eat dinner, go to bed and start over the next day,” she says. “I’ve forgotten what a social life is like.”
Moss said the cast is still recovering from the death of singer/actress Aaliyah, who was killed in a plane crash Aug. 25. “We were all devastated and shocked,” Moss says. “She had already become a part of the Matrix family. We still think about her.”
